We are excited for our up and coming second SheepMaster Ram sale line up. We have 36 Shedding Rams up for sale this year and we’re thrilled to announce the inclusion of 100-150 ewe lambs at the auction.
This line up have impressed us in how they have done so well even under feed pressure this winter and spring, foraging through recently harvested pine blocks for what they could find. Looks like after two very wet years since we started with the SheepMasters we will now get to see how the perform in a dry Hawkes Bay year.
The animal health and survival of lambs has been fantastic this spring. The out of season ewes tailed the same number of lambs as they scanned. Lambing beats with the SheepMasters require little interventions. We even had a 7yr Wiltshire ewe have quads that survived, one of which we managed to mother onto another ewe.

Australia Trip Highlights – SheepMaster Parent Stud
Antoinette and I had a wonderful time attending the parent stud sale on 6th November in Cowra, NSW, meeting the new owners and talking to Aussie farmers about sheep. I got to wander around recently weaned ewe and ram lambs, and their mums. Was great to see the Masterbuild Ram and was impressive to see how these rams fill out.
Exciting possibilities
Thanks to Neil who introduced us to Trevor at the sale with the intent of purchasing lot 2 on a shared basis that would allow us to bring semen home from this great ram. More information on this to follow.
